SPINNINGS Week of March 19, 2024
DICTIONARIES DISTRIBUTED!
WITH DEEP APPRECIATION TO CO-CHAIRS
PE JOAN ROSAS & PP MIKE PETERSON
Lynn Armenio, Bruce Bean, Anne Campbell, Vic Carboni, Claudia Ferguson, Martin Harband, Skip Howie, Arlene Kace, Don Leydig, Rod Linhares,
Ross Moilan, Lisa Taner, Peter & Pam Webb, and
Sue Winks were instrumental in distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders throughout San Mateo.  Many thanks to one & all!
Mike has MC honors at Park School where he lets the students know the dictionaries are theirs to keep! The 3rd Graders react with an excited buzz and great delight as they dive into their very own dictionaries.
Joan explains all about Rotary to the assembled group of Sunnybrae 3rd graders. Kudos to Joan & Mike for all their efforts at making sure dictionary logistics ran so smoothly. Joan's
garage is now liberated from all those boxes of books!
Joan & Mike show off their crowd control skills with a rousing rendition of Simon Says as they get the excited students' attention. The students loved it! Looks as though Mike & Joan did, too! When was the last time you played Simon Says?
Past President Peter Webb diligently places the 4-Way Test & Name Plate Stickers inside the dictionary front covers with great skill & aplomb!
This group is typical of the 3rd graders' response to their new dictionaries. They loved looking through the book, pointing out all sorts of features to their friends, including a great page on dinosaurs & another one with a skeleton riding a skateboard!
Vic Carboni makes sure each dictionary is ready while he awaits the oncoming rush of excited 3rd graders who are just around the corner, finishing up recess.
Past President Sue Winks is pleased to present a dictionary to one of the Park 3rd graders as Claudia Ferguson and a Park teacher look on.
Are you as smart as a 3rd grader? Do you know whose uniquely shaped flag this is? The 3rd graders do! They were especially intrigued by all the flags at the back of their new dictionaries.
Clifford the Big Red Dog had a great spot in the Park School Library for watching all the excitement as the students dug into their dictionaries. Looks as though he'd like one, too. Maybe next time, Clifford!
The District 5150 Assembly is just around the corner on Saturday, March 23rd.  It's a great opportunity to learn more about Rotary, meet other Rotarians, & enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by the Rotary Club of Foster City - The Club That Cooks!  Even better, it's a time to celebrate the incoming Rotary Presidents, so plan to attend, clap & shout when our very own President-Elect Joan walks across the stage to receive the new 2024-25 Rotary banner and to be introduced as the next President of the Rotary Club of San Mateo!

It's not too late to register so go to the link below to sign up.  Don't worry about the registration fee.  Our Club picks up the tab!   Looking forward to a big turnout from San Mateo!
