The first batch of Little Libraries are now sporting a new primer coat of paint. On a gorgeous April Friday morning, 13 San Mateo Rotarians arrived at President Elect Joan's home to help paint. PE Joan had everything beautifully organized - all the component parts were ready, the paint cans were open, and many snack options were available to help sustain the hard-working paint crew. Everyone pitched in and shortly after 11 am all of the Little Libraries had received their primer coat of paint.
Many thanks to everyone who joined in the primer painting with such great gusto: Rosemary Azem, Dave Bennett, Anne Campbell, Tom Door, Barb Evers, Dave Issel, Bernie Mellott, Mike Peterson, Mitch Postel, Nick Rogers, Scott Smith, Lisa Taner, and Sue Winks.
What's next for our Little Libraries? Before too long, they will receive their final coats of paint and be installed in a variety of locations throughout San Mateo where they'll be stocked with books for children and parents to borrow. Be on the lookout for them as they soon will begin to pop up!

Dr. Shruti Dhapodkar
San Mateo County Emergency Management Director
Dr. Dhapodkar has responsibility for coordinating San Mateo County's emergency planning, response, and recovery. In addition to her medical degree, Dr. Dhapodkar is working on a master's degree from the Naval Post Graduate School focused on improving data-driven decision making. She & her husband live in Redwood City with their rescue mutt named Gnocchi.
