Celebrating the 2022 Rotary Scholarship Recipients
TheRotary Scholarship Luncheon - Definitely one of the highlights of the Rotary year! After a 2-year COVID-hiatus, we were again able to gather at Poplar Creek on May 12th with the scholarship honorees, their families, school staff, and fellow Rotarians to honor 22 Community College Scholarship Recipients and 19 4-Year College Scholarship Recipients. Inspirational remarks were offered by student speakers Stephanie Sandoval, Mohammed Lashuel, and Raef Makrai. Congratulations to all 41 honorees as they prepare to enter the next stage of their academic careers! They will do well and we hope they'll check back in to keep us up-to-date on what are sure to be impressive achievements!

Kitty Lopez shared an excerpt from Toni Morrison's 1988 Sarah Lawrence Commencement Addressas the Thought-of-the-Day. Here are Morrison's wise words:
"You will be in positions that matter. Positions in which you can decide the nature and quality of other people's lives....So when you enter those places of trust or power, dream a little before you think, so your thoughts, your solutions, your directions, your choices about who lives and who doesn't, about who flourishes and who doesn't will be worth the very sacred life you have chosen to live. You are not helpless. You are not heartless. And you have time."
