Our very own Tony Villanueva was recently named District 5150 Governor Designee for the 2027-28 rotary year.  As is Tradition, many past District governors descended upon Tuesday's club meeting to honor Tony & provide him with quite a fetching hat (think mad hatter) as a symbol of the many hats the district governor must wear.  

Tony was on Tap for the newscast and proudly wore his new hat as he delivered Thanksgiving trivia for rotarians to share at their thanksgiving dinner tables.  A few highlights:

- How many turkeys do Americans prepare each Thanksgiving?
          46 million
 
- A Thanksgiving turkey mix-up inspired what popular meal trend?
          Frozen TV Dinners
 
- According to the Guiness Book of World Records, how much does the heaviest turkey on record weigh?
           86 pounds (Imagine trying to fit that one into your oven!)
 
- How much did the world's largest pumpkin pie weigh?
           3,699 pounds and it was 20 feet in diameter
 
- According to Americans, what's the best part of Thanksgiving?
           The leftovers

President Joan was off to Kansas (not sure if she took her ruby slippers), so Past President Rod called the meeting to order with an imaginary gavel. The Club's real gavel is still held captive behind the red-tagged door at Poplar Creek.  
 
Rod gave an immensely moving Thought-of-the-Day based on a 60 Minutes 
segment focused on identifying the remains of 9/11 victims.  
Santa's Elves were in the house! 
 
Thanks to Cheryl, Rosemary, and Ray for reminding Rotarians to sign up for the Holiday Cocktail party on the evening of December 17th.

Pete Wanger and the Sound Judgment Barbershop Quartet provided a melodic presence & program. Pete emceed an interlude between each song to inform Rotarians about the history of Barbershop Quartets and their current worldwide status.
