A special shout-out to Tony Villanueva and the Centennial Dinner Committee who have been working for months to create what is sure to be a most memorable evening. You won't want to miss this one!
First little library installed!
With thanks to Supervisor Noelia Corzo who provided the funding for our first official Little Library which was installed on April 10th outside the King Center.
An enthusiastic group turned out to welcome the Little Library to its new home, including our first patron - a preschooler who walked by with his mom and happily selected a book to take home for the week.
The installation was definitely a team effort, with special thanks to President-Elect Joan who made all the arrangements with Supervisor Corzo's office and to Past President Sheila who handled all the installation logistics with the San Mateo Parks & Recreation Dept.
Joan borrowed a giant pair of scissors from the San Mateo/Foster City School District for the ribbon cutting (they worked well!) and also provided a platter of celebratory cookies which were enjoyed by those in attendance - especially the preschool patron!
San Mateo Rotary featured in Daily Journal insert
Hope you got a chance to read the April 16th edition of the Daily Journal and came across the special insert honoring the Club's Centennial.
An appreciative shoutout to Bernie Mellott and her team who worked tirelessly to gather the pictures and prepare the articles. A special tip of the hat to President John, Mitch Postel, Sheila Canzian & Lee Osborne who wrote the copy.
Bernie worked for months gathering sponsors for the insert - thanks to everyone who purchased an ad. With the ad revenue, the insert paid for itself and some was left over to help with other Centennial expenses. Kudos all around!

If you haven't yet made your donation, please be sure to do so sooner rather than later. A reminder that our Club has given over $3 million in scholarship support during our first 100 years. We would love to exceed that total in our second century so help us reach this year's funding target!

THIS WEEK'S SPEAKER: THE HONORABLE ANNA ESHOO, MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS
First elected to Congress in 1992 to represent California's 16th Congressional District, Representative Eshoo recently announced she will be retiring at the end of this term.
Rep. Eshoo has authored over 50 bills that have been signed into law by five presidents. She has worked to help families struggling to keep up with their mortgages by fighting for the "Homeowner Bill of Rights" which has helped prevent mortgage abuse and facilitate home loan acquisitions.
A graduate of Cañada College and a Coro Fellow, Rep. Eshoo has an Honorary Degree from Menlo College. She was elected to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in 1982 and served for ten years before being elected to Congress.
The Rotary Club of San Mateo is delighted to welcome Rep. Eshoo to the podium on April 23rd.
