We're dark on July 4th. Enjoy time with family, friends, and fireworks!
Have you ever wondered why we light fireworks on the 4th of July?
They're a tradition dating back to Philadelphia on July 4, 1777. A ship docked in the harbor that day fired off 13 rounds of cannon fire to commemorate the 13 colonies. Up in Boston, the Sons of Liberty set off fireworks over Boston Harbor.
Thus was celebrated the initial Independence Day. May you enjoy one of the Bay Area's or another community's fireworks celebrations.
