Diane Carlson Evans served as a Combat Nurseduring the Viet Nam War. Following her service she left the Army as a Captain, became a mom of four children, and dedicated herself to making sure a memorial sculpture was installed in a place of honor on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the vital assistance and support women have provided to our nation's military. Along the way she encountered much resistance, but was ultimately successful. Evans is the author of Healing Wounds - A Vietnam War Combat Nurse's 10 Year Fight to Win Women a Place of Honor in Washington, D.C.
