SAN MATEO ROTARIANS WELCOME DISTRICT 5150 GOVERNOR STEVE WRIGHT
District Governor Steve Wright attended the August 27th meeting to share his plans for the year ahead focused on the theme of Hope in Action. DG Steve came with pins galore and served as the day's speaker. He met with the Board prior to the meeting and led a session on the Club's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats. The highlights of DG Steve's remarks to the Club included:
A belief that Rotary basically boils down to projects & friends. We deepen our Rotary friendships by joining together in service projects. Hence, his theme for the year: Hope in Action.
Rotary is present in more countries than the United Nations.
Every club needs to focus on building membership.
There's not a club in the District that can sing Happy Birthday in tune!
A reminder from Mr. Rogers to "look for the helpers."

Ray Iverson reminded everyone of the upcoming Car Show on September 14th. Help is still needed!
President Joan noted Ray will retire from his role as Redwood City's Fire Chief & wondered if he might want to join her President's Club to mark such a notable event. Ray graciously agreed!
Nick Rogers accepts his table's prize won in President Joan's District 5150 Trivia Contest. The prize? Peppermints for the table! Of course, President Joan provided the same prize to every table so no one would feel left out! Rotarians left the meeting well fortified with minty breath!
To thank DG Steve as the meeting's speaker, President Joan presented him with two bistro wine glasses instead of the usual paperweight which he already had from attending the Centennial Dinner. Judging from DG Steve's smile, they were a hit!

Long time Rotarian Kevin Kelly has passed away. Kevin joined Rotary in 1977 and recently retired from his arbitration law practice. He was a resident of san carlos & is survived by his two daughters, Erin & Alison, & his former wife, Nancy. funeral arrangements are pending.

Matt Koschmann is Chief Strategy Officer for the UCSF Faculty Practice & Ambulatory Services as well as Vice President Strategy for UCSF Health. This year UCSF will be a Rotary Fun Run Sponsor!
Bill Graham has served as the President of Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital since 2015. He has been instrumental in securing funding for Sequoia's Heart and Vascular Institute and developing a clinically integrated physician network supporting innovative managed care.
