With the continued red-tagging of the Poplar Creek facility (thanks to Tony Villanueva for the photo!), San Mateo Rotarians continue to look for a new home. We enjoyed being introduced to the Coyote Point Yacht Club (hard to beat the view!) last week & will be there again this week.
Next up will be Pinstripes who will host us on December 3 & 10.
Rotarians will then vote on which venue they prefer, and President Joan will sign a contract committing us to the winner through June 2025. Negotiations with health officials are still underway to gain access to Poplar Creek so we can reclaim important club items, including the podium and Rotary Bell!
Many thanks to President Joan, Nancy Stanton, and Ross Moilan for all they've done in selecting potential venues. They've devoted lots of time & energy to narrowing down the field to the four venues we've been visiting.

"Moving from Climate Despair to Climate Repair" was the topic of Professor Rob Jackson's presentation to San Mateo Rotarians on November 12th.
Among his key points:
- 2023 was the hottest year on record & 2024 will break the record
- The US Clean Air Act saves hundreds of thousands of lives a year at a 30-fold return on investment
- Individual steps Rotarians can take to help with Climate Repair include converting to clean electricity, eliminating residential use of natural gas, consuming less beef, and wasting less food.
Professor Jackson just published a new book: Into the Clear Blue Sky.
