The Rotary Club of San Mateo and the Hillsdale Effect held their annual Beresford picnic on May 19th on a gloriously sunny Thursday. It was great to be together again following several years when COVID prevented our gathering.
Thanks to a team led by Sean DeLuna and Dave Bennett, Rotarians and Hillsdale Effecters enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch. Dick DeLuna presented John Barrett as the nominee for President-Elect-Nominee and the Club unanimously approved! John was all smiles!
Brian Sullivan, Greg Lance & the Hillsdale Effecters provided an update on our microcredit partnership in Guatemala which is now in its 14th year and has provided well over $200,000 in micro-credit loans to help several hundred Guatemalan women become economically self-sufficient.
Happily, the Hillsdale Effect students will be able to visit Guatemala in June for the first time in several years. San Mateo Rotarians are invited to join the journey. If you're interested, reach out ASAP to Don Leydig.
