San Mateo Rotarians will gather at the Elks Club on the evening of Tuesday, December 17th, between 5:00 & 7:30 pm for a Holiday Cocktail Party. Guests are welcome so be sure to invite them!
You need to RSVP & pay in advance by Tuesday, December 10th. Go to the link below to RSVP & pay for you & your guests. Cost is $45/person which includes wine, beer, & appetizers. A no host bar will be available. You can also pay at the Tuesday meeting registration table.
A White Elephant Exchange is planned so be sure to explore your closets and garage for the best possible White Elephant gift! Always fun to see what materializes in such an exchange.

A warm welcome to Elijah Ron Saunders who arrived on November 20th to proud parents Angel & Osh Saunders. What a great way to celebrate the Thanksgiving Season! Elijah has decided, however, that he'll wait until next Thanksgiving to discover turkey & pumpkin pie!
Elijah weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces so it will be interesting to see which SM Rotarians won President Joan's baby arrival date & weight contest! Be sure to come to Tuesday's meeting at Pinstripes when the winners will be announced.
Not sure when Elijah will make his debut at a San Mateo Rotary meeting or event, but in the meantime, be sure to congratulate his parents as you see them. They may be a bit sleep deprived for the near future, but life will eventually return to a new normal!
Sad News
Longtime Rotarian Steve Way and Paul Harris Fellow died in San Mateo on November 20th. Steve had been suffering from kidney disease for the past several years which he battled valiantly.
Professionally, Steve enjoyed a long career in finance. Outside of work, Steve was actively involved in many non-profits. He served as President of the Board at Coyote Point Museum (now CuriOdyssey) as well as at the San Mateo County History Museum where he was instrumental in raising funds for the renovation of the stained glass dome. Steve also served as President of the Board of NAMI San Mateo County & helped it through a difficult financial time.
A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in 2025. If you'd like to make a donation in Steve's memory, please consider a gift to the San Mateo Rotary Foundation.
A reminder that this week's meeting will be led by President Joan together with the Board. They will facilitate a working session to help us imagine our Club's future in the years ahead.
We'll elect new officers for the 2025-26 Rotary Year and then we'll work in tabletop groups to share our answers to the following questions:
What do you value most about being a member of the Rotary Club of San Mateo?
What do you like least about the Rotary Club of San Mateo, its processes or weekly luncheons?
What are the Club fellowship activities and/or service projects that are important to you?
What would you like to improve about the Club that would make your experience more engaging and meaningful?
What would you like to see our Club engage in / accomplish in the next 3-5 years?
