Kudos to all San Mateo Rotarians who turned out for the April 10th meeting at Coyote Point Yacht Club. Every seat was filled and more needed to be added to accommodate those gathered for a delicious BBQ lunch, fun & fellowship, and an inspirational program from Coach Tim Tulloch who heads up the Built for Life football program at the College of San Mateo.
An Informative Two
Truths & a Lie
With thanks to Tom Huening, Talbott Smith, and Karen Vandenberg for trying to outwit the Club in 2 Truths & a Lie. Bet you didn't know:
Tom once got into a major political battle with Former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown...and lost big-time!
Talbott is not the proud owner of a King Charles Spaniel
Karen is not a licensed barber...but she is a licensed cosmetologist!
They were all smiles by the end, managing to fool many members of the Club!
Kudos to President Joan for such a fun activity!
Leadership San Mateo County
Claudia Ferguson shared info on two programs sponsored by Leadership San Mateo County - one for established leaders & one for emerging leaders. These are both terrific ways to learn more about leadership opportunities. Applications are currently available.
Here's a great video that provides an informative overview:

CSM Football Coach
Tim Tulloch
Coach Tulloch shared an inspirational message about coaching the National Champion CSM Bulldog Football Team. The program is called Built for Life and focuses on creating a Team Built to Win and Men Built for Life. Academically the team has a 3.34 GPA and former players have amassed 19 Super Bowl rings. Tulloch emphasized the importance of mentors in the players' lives and invited Rotarians to consider serving as mentors. For more of Tulloch's remarks, visit the YouTube video:
With thanks to an intrepid band of painters (including Martin & Gail's grandkids!), the Centennial Little Libraries are ready for final placement. We've already situated 15 Little Libraries throughout San Mateo so be on the lookout for them as you're walking, biking, and driving around town.
By the end of April the remaining 9 Little Libraries will be in their new homes located by child care centers, parks, and residences. Many thanks to President Joan for her leadership and to all the Rotarians who have helped with the project. A special shout-out to Sheila Canzian who came up with the idea and who has been a great source of locations for the Little Libraries!
If you have children's books you don't need anymore, send them our way so we can keep the Little Libraries full of books for our readers!
