SPINNINGS  - Week of March 26, 2023

Busy Rotarians!

March has been a busy month for San Mateo Rotarians.  At the March 19 meeting President John graciously acknowledged President-Elect Joan Rosas and Past Presidents Sheila Canzian & Mike Peterson for all they've accomplished between organizing & distributing dictionaries to 3rd graders throughout San Mateo schools and preparing Little Libraries to commemorate the Club's Centennial. Lisa Taner has painted & installed the very first Centennial Little Library in front of her San Mateo home.  Be on the lookout for others as Little Libraries begin to appear throughout San Mateo neighborhoods!

This past week San Mateo Rotarians joined College Park 2nd grade teachers and students to continue work on the Garden Project, funded by a Rotary District 5150 San Mateo DDF Grant. Peter Webb, Martin Harband, Nicole Cherok, Mike Peterson, Lisa Taner, Sheila Canzian, Juliana Fuerbringer, and Anne Campbell assisted students as they planted seeds, cleaned garden pavers, painted rocks, and weeded.  The students & teachers exuberantly enjoyed being outside on a warm spring morning. Our Rotarians did, too!

It's Scholarship Time!

Jeff Lowenstein kicked off scholarship season at the March 19th meeting, reminding Rotarians how important your contributions are to creating a robust scholarship fund. This year's goal is to raise at least $50,000 with 100% club member participation. The suggested contribution is $500/member with options for breaking it up into three payments.
