Spinning’s
September 28, 2017
Well, it was scheduled like any other day – overbooked.  But there was a chance if everything went right, I could make all three obligations not counting the fourth one I added at the end of the day.

The first was easy, I had to get to the gym for an appointment with my trainer at 7:00AM.  I woke up at 6:00 because I needed to take care of my dog Harry.  He needed to go out in the dog run to go potty.  This was okay except Harry didn’t want to go potty at 6:00 and he didn’t want the dog run either.  He wanted the whole back yard.  “Absolutely not Harry!”, was my reply.  Harry is dark grey and if he went out in the back with no light I’d never be able to find him.  “You don’t want to go out in the back, then I’m not going to cook your breakfast”.  Harry gets 1/16 of a 2lb hamburger that gets cooked in a frying pan mixed along with his kibble.  If I don’t put the hamburger in, he just looks at me with the expression “where’s the rest of it”.  Well this morning I didn’t cook it and he just looked at me.  We stared each other down and after about 15 minutes Harry gave up and went out in the dog run.  It was the first time that I won but I didn’t have any time to gloat I was already 15 minutes late.  He finished his breakfast and went back to bed but now I had to drive down to the gym.

The trainer was waiting for me as I was already 12 minutes late, and felt pretty good I made up at least 3 minutes.  He wasn’t nearly as happy about the 3 minutes as I was.  For the next 48 minutes he pushed everything double time.  By the end, I crawled into the shower and got dressed.  I made it home by 8:30 in time to jot off to the city for my Doctor’s appointment at UCSF.  Had to make it three months in advanced so it wasn’t something I could miss.  We got there exactly at 10:00, I couldn’t believe that I was back on schedule again.  The rest of the day will be a snap.

Not quite.

I was on time but he was two patients behind.  I starting to email everyone at 11:15. I don’t think I’m going to make it note.  I started looking for email addresses in my phone.   I emailed Shoecraft, President Chris, then finally picked the whole roster of Spinning’s Editors.  In all there were seven emails   sent.  Surely someone would be able to fill in if I didn’t get back in time or perhaps not at all.  Beth, my wife wanted me to get a lobotomy so I wouldn’t be so stressed out.  Well that didn’t happen; saw the Dr.; didn’t have the lobotomy; drove back got into my car and scooted off to Rotary.  I made it before the Pledge and had time get lunch and of course report on the Spinning’s.  I had made by 12:15 and was jazzed I even got lunch.

Who says you can’t overbook your day.  Other than being 12 minutes late for the trainer and paying for that with blood and revenge, I was on time for the Dr. and Rotary, I was on a roll.  The end of the day however, I needed a vet appointment for Harry at 4:00.  I kept up my 12 minutes late average, but that was because of the unbelievable traffic of everyone getting in my way.
